Citing Sources The ethics of research demand that writers be credited for their work and their writing. When you do not cite the sources you used to complete your project it is considered plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined by Merriam-Webster's Dictionary as follows: - to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
- to use (another's production) without crediting the source
- to commit literary theft
- to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.
The best ways to avoid plagiarism are to paraphrase information in your own words and cite all sources from which you took information!
