    RETENTION OF STUDENTS GRADES 7 & 8

Promotion in the South Allegheny Middle School is by subject and not by grade level. In Grades 7 and 8, successful completion of a subject meeting five periods a week for a full year is equivalent to one earned unit. A subject meeting fewer than five periods a week is equal to one-half earned unit. Any combination of subjects failed, which total at least two units, will constitute failure for the year resulting in retention at the present grade level unless remedial class work is satisfactorily completed in an accredited program. Any pupil (in grades 7 & 8) subject to retention will be reviewed by administration.

    SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION

If your child failed 2 or more classes that equal 2 or more credits, your child must go to summer school in order to be promoted to the next grade. You can only take 2 classes during summer school.
