Port Vue-Liberty High School finished with two graduating classes (Class of 1965 and Class of 1966) before the merger with Glassport High School that created the South Allegheny School District. With colors of Blue and Gold (on gray uniforms), the nickname of Port Vue-Liberty High School was the Bulldogs.
Reports vary as to what occurred with PVLHS students prior to the formation of a high school. According to some, Port Vue and Liberty students would attend Junior High at Romine Avenue School. When the students completed their Junior High course of studies, they had the choice to attend either McKeesport High School or Glassport High School (with a few also selecting Elizabeth Forward High School). Others believe that Port Vue students had the choice, but Liberty students were relegated to McKeesport High School only. Unfortunately, the decision-makers of the era are no longer with us and how things played out behind the scenes through policies may be lost.
