     Title I Reading Website!

The purpose of the Title I Reading Program is to give additional educational support to students who are struggling with Reading skills.  Since the South Allegheny Early Childhood Center is a "School-Wide" Title I school, every student is considered to be a Title I student.  This allows the Title I teachers to give support to any student as soon as they begin experiencing difficulty.

During the 2017 - 2018,  Title I Reading support is provided through two programs:

Parallel Inclusion:   During this program, small groups of students receive reading support in the Title I Reading Classroom.   The lessons are designed to cover the same material that is being taught and practiced within the regular reading class so that the students do not miss any of the content of that class.  However, instead of receiving the instruction in a large group, they receive it in a small group allowing the teacher to give each student individualized attention and address each student's individual strengths and weaknesses.  Students in this program meet for 30 minutes sessions  2 or 3 times each week.

Level Literacy Intervention:    Also referred to as LLI, this is a reading intervention program for students who are experiencing difficulty with reading and writing skills.  These lessons are in addition to regular classroom reading instruction.  During these lessons, students are placed a reading level based on their ability.  Strategies in both reading and writing are taught in order to increase the student's reading level to that of the classroom reading instruction.  Students in this program meet for instruction each day for 30 minutes.
