Update on Coronavirus Closures

Dear South Allegheny Family,

I apologize for yet another notification, but I feel the need for some additional clarification after our last message was sent out.
The Governor’s mandate superseded our originally announced plan; therefore school will remain closed from March 16, 2020, through March 29, 2020.  This means that teachers will not report during the two week mandated closure and no instruction will be delivered.  In the Governor’s message, he shared that schools will not be penalized if they fail to meet the 180 day or school hour requirements.
Please know that I still plan on keeping our schools closed through April 13th as originally stated. Our Flexible Instructional Days may still be needed after the mandated two-week closure depending upon unknown variables.
The safety of our South Allegheny communities, students, and staff is my first priority, and I will always err on the side of caution when it comes to my decisions involving health and safety.
Please take care of yourselves and your families during these uncertain times. We will continue to communicate new information as it becomes available.
Dr. Lisa N. Duval
