Safety & Security

The South Allegheny School District is committed to keeping our schools and campuses as safe as possible for our students, faculty, staff, and community.  The following are components of our ongoing initiatives in the area of Safety and Security.  Any questions or concerns can be made to the Safety and Security Coordinator, Mr. David McDonald, or through the Safe2Say Anonymous Reporting Site.

  • Memorandums of Understanding with each of the four local municipality police departments
  • Tri-annual vulnerability assessments completed by the Pennsylvania State Police
  • Armed security provided in each building daily and at after school events by Kellington Protection Services
  • Use of the Raptor system to screen all visitors prior to entering any building during the school day
  • Establishment of priorities for improvement which have been partially funded through grants received by the Office of Safe Schools and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Deliquency
  • Creation and implementation of a trained Threat Assessment Team which serves K-12
  • Ongoing training for all faculty, staff, and students in emergency preparedness
