MS Administration
Mr. Fred Rogers once said, "Listen to the children, learn about them, learn from them. Think of the children first." As a lifelong learner and educator of over 25 years, I have always believed that the children have (and always will) come first.
My name is Dr. Marisa Bragg and I am the Principal at South Allegheny Middle School. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, both my parents immigrated to the United States from Calabria, Italy. My father, a worker in the steel mills, and my mom, a seamstress, both instilled in me a strong work ethic, family values, resiliency, and compassion for others.
I have been with the district since 2022. Prior to that, I was a classroom teacher for ten years, then moved into administration at two different Intermediate Units, and finally moved on to my roles as a building Principal and Assistant Principal. The majority of my school experience was in inner-city schools.
I earned my Bachelor of Science (1999) and Master of Science (2002) degrees from Duquesne University. I earned my principal certification at Point Park University (2006) and my doctoral degree (2024), which concentrated on trauma and adolescents.
I have been married to my best friend and husband since 2020. We love spending time together (with our three cats) watching movies, taking long walks, and visiting with family and friends. I am proud and excited to be a member of the South Allegheny Gladiator family and team.
