Spanish I

Description
Spanish I is designed for students to build a solid foundation in the language. The emphasis will be on conversational vocabulary and basic grammar structures. Listening, reading, writing, and speaking will be the skills of focus in the classroom. Discussions of culture will be used to further students’ understanding of similarities and differences in daily life in the Hispanic world.

Description
Spanish II builds on the language skills gained in previous study. There will be a greater emphasis on more complex grammatical structures, an improvement of speaking and listening skills, including pronunciation, and a continuation of cultural studies as related to daily life in the Hispanic world.

Students will also focus on the development of independent listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills using increased specific vocabulary. Students will be exposed to many new cultural nuances of life in the Hispanic world through a diverse selection of readings in humor, journalism, fiction, and regional literature.
