Description
 
The course is designed around activities focused on the development of team sports, individual sports, and personal fitness. The content is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills in order to maintain a physically active lifestyle. All activities included will help develop the student’s physical, emotional, and social well being. 
Sports and Recreation

Description
 
This course is not a replacement for the State mandated Physical Education credit.
 
Students will have an opportunity to experience a combination of classroom lessons, physical activity, and hands-on experiences, such as playing individual and team sports and participating in outdoor recreation activities. The physical fitness and wellness component will include lessons on exercise, nutrition, and stress management. Students will also be exposed to a sportsmanship and ethics component which could include lessons on the importance of fair play, respect for opponents, and the role of sports in promoting character development.

Description
 
This course offers the student an active and personal approach to learning skills, attitudes and behaviors needed to make wellness a lifelong habit.  Topics included in this course are Drug and Alcohol Awareness, First Aid and C.P.R., Human Sexuality, Communicable Diseases, Emotional issues, and an introduction to Anatomy and Physiology.  The course is designed around activities focused on the development of team sports, individual sports, and personal fitness. The content is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills in order to maintain a physically active lifestyle. All activities included will help develop the student’s physical, emotional, and social well being.
Basketball Fundamentals

Description
 
This course will provide students the basics of the game of basketball. Students will simulate real games with appropriate rules taking place. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about officiating and the work opportunities after graduation.

Description
 
This course will help students develop and understanding of the basic principles of fitness.  Students will develop personal fitness goals that meet their individual needs as well as an individualized exercise plan to meet their goals. This is an active course that will develop both anaerobic and aerobic exercise plans for the individual student.

Description
 
Throughout this course students will be engaged in different health related physical activities by working on sport and skill related activities. Students will work on various sport related units such as Hockey, Soccer, Football, Lacrosse, etc. Not only will the students learn how to play and perform the different sport skills, but the students will also develop and improve on teamwork and sportsmanship.
PE Partners

Description
 
A collaborative effort between teachers, students in the Life Skills Program, and high school students to improve the physical, social, and emotional health of all involved. The life skill athletes will work directly with the Partners on a daily basis in a structured environment focused on a variety of physical activities.
