High School Chorus

Description
 
This course is designed for students in grades 9-12 who enjoy using their vocal ability. Emphasis is placed on preparing for the Holiday and Spring concerts.
High School Band

Description
 
This course consists of a seasonal daily marching band and concert band rehearsal.  Musical performance skills acquired in the middle school band are expanded and refined.  Daily ensemble playing is designed to expose students to various styles of music and composers as well as degrees of technical difficulty.  Attendance of all after school rehearsals and performances as well as the two weeks of band camp at the end of July & early August is mandatory.  Music skills, discipline, personal responsibility, group cooperation and goal achievement, pride and self-confidence are emphasized.  Because of the unique character of the band that is so performance oriented, students who complete band camp will not be allowed to withdraw from the band until the end of the year without the band director’s permission.
Sr. High Band Front

*Successful audition to the majorette or color guard squad and successful completion of both pre-camp and band camp (held in August before the start of the regular school year)
 
Description
 
The band front is a sub-section of the high school marching band program. It is for those students who successfully complete the audition process for either the majorette or color guard squad, and therefore, are not part of the concert band. It meets during the regular band period for the marching season only. Attendance of all after school rehearsals and performances as well as the two weeks of band camp at the end of July & early August is mandatory. Its purpose is to enable the students in each of these two squads to rehearse their part of the marching show with the regular marching band. Auxiliary skills, discipline, personal responsibility, group cooperation and goal achievement, pride and self-confidence are emphasized. Music Technology I

Description
 
Students will discover and explore introductory concepts used in music sequencing, notation, and recording. No prior music experience is needed, however, having training on an instrument or voice is helpful. Students will create music using sequencing/editing software, synthesizers, and the recording studio. A performance component is required through use of the recording studio. Students interested in the current methods of musical creation and production should consider taking this course.
Music Technology II

Description

Description
 
This course is designed to provide an opportunity for music students to advance their understanding of the academic and theoretical parts of music. Content includes keys, scales, part-writing, harmonic techniques, chordal analysis, and part-writing.
